5 reasons to choose TLM as your degree course.

Authored by Kethaka Galapaththi

If you are a Sri Lankan A/L Mathematics stream student, I’m sure you know about the Engineering faculty of University of Moratuwa. Even you may be dreaming of getting selected there. But I doubt, whether you know degree of Transport and Logistics Management (TLM) under the same faculty. And I confidently bet 1000 bucks, that you are not aware about worthiness of following that course. Here are 5 reasons for you to select that not-so-famous TLM course.

5)    Engineering + Management degree

Usually, degrees specialize only one specific field. But under TLM syllabus, students are expected to learn both Management and Mathematical areas to develop management as well as analytical skills.

4) No upper limit for the salary

Most of undergrads follow degrees to get better jobs with lucrative salaries. Although TLM undergrads will start their jobs as Transport or Logistics managers, they don’t have an end point to their career succession. With the above mentioned skills and their individual performances, they can climb up to higher positions such as CEOs or Chairmen. And I don’t need to mention high salaries those positions earn.

3)  So many job opportunities

At a time, transport being widely developed, and companies being more concerned about logistics side, a job is guaranteed, if you opted to follow TLM. This degree will offer you job opportunities from aviation, to maritime, to supply chain management to many more.

2)  Great panel of lecturers, resources and opportunities offered by the TLM department

Highly qualified lecturers with many years of industrial experiences guide the TLM students, not only to do better in academics but also to improve necessary skills such as leadership and soft skills, making the undergrads ready for the corporate world. Further, departmental library, computer lab and other resources are available while offering several opportunities to work in surveys and projects.

1) And…. the fun

Most importantly, being a TLM student will be an awesome experience, which you won’t believe unless you join this course. You will be taken to camping in a rain forest, to field visits, and will be given the chance to participate in an English camp, all at the expense of the department and the help of generous sponsors. Although with a huge load of work, these undergrads enjoy every minute of life in TLM because they consider TLM as their second family. As one family, it steadily goes forward in a journey of success with the support of academic staff, non-academic staff, alumni and undergraduates. You will never regret for being a part of this family.
